Rustic Bathroom With Shower

La Villa - Villa Sciarra

Today we visit one of the smaller and lesser-known City of Rome.
But even among the City's most unique and mysterious with its fountains and sculptures inspired by mythology.
In this area, in the Archaic period, was the sacred wood nymph to Furrina (little known and documented protective of water).
Later, this area was part of Caesar's horti that extended from Gianicolo and Monteverde to the Tiber.
The Villa was built in the fourteenth century and now lies at the foot of the Gianicolo for 7.5 acres bounded by the walls of Urban VIII Via Calandrelli (at number 23 is the main entrance of the five original) Via Dandolo.
The events related to the property, over time, are quite intricate.
So the story will try to summarize it as follows:
the Villa, belonged to the family and then Mignanelli Barberini, was bequeathed to the principles of Carbognano Sciarra (branch of the family Barberini).
When Don Maffeo Sciarra fell into disrepair bad investments divided up much of the same villa that was so disfigured.
In 1902 it was bought by American diplomat Wurts.
Contrary to what one might thinking for the Villa (and also pre all of us!) was a fortune.
Wurts, thanks to the wealth of his wife Henriette Tower, not only recovered but made even luxurious.
developing and enriching with rare plants and valuable, with statues and fountains from an eighteenth-century villa near Milan destroyed and unknown.
In fact, two fountains bear the emblem of the Visconti of Milan, with the characteristic Alfa Romeo.
for these artifacts was used a stone of a warm color, gray, ocher, but not resistant and somewhat crumbly.
In fact, the sandstone is due to its characteristics, not easy to restore and correct (but far too long) alcune sculture e fontane versano in uno stato poco rassicurante non solo per la proria natura ma anche per la poca manutenzione.
fact, some parts are not accessible because the fenced for a long time and many sculptures and fountains need a proper restoration.
In addition, some of my photos as evidence, can be found more often on the walls and spray graffiti and damage to various sign of the passage of uncivilized thugs and users but also a sign of poor control and supervision.
As you can see, some of the pictures that I could take, in a beautiful and typical summer sunny day in Rome, this villa does not lose its characteristics.
fact, with its vegetation, its fountains, statues, and some other hidden in plain sight, the villa is always fascinating and mysterious ...
The next meeting will be devoted to post a photo with which I will bring to the attention of the place thanks to the images created by me ... Do not miss them!
