Timpa di Acireale
From at least 220,000 years to about 110,000 years ago the eruptive activity is concentrated along the coast Ionica at the system of normal faults called Timpe (see website INGV). The continuous overlapping lava flows in the Timpa di Acireale has led, over time, the formation of a volcanic structure of the first type shield extended for at least 15 km in NNW direction. Today it remains a system of imposing escarpments that, despite the strong anthropic sometimes harmful as not governed by a forward looking, it has taken for fascinating.
